Pleased to meet you!
My name is Steven G. Aguilar and I am glad you made your way to my site.
I chose Cal Poly because of the "Learn by Doing" philosophy and inter-disciplinary approach to learning. In just five years I have transformed from a typical suburban teenager into a well-rounded young adult.
Now as I prepare to leave college life for the real world I could not be more confident in my choice or more thankful for the incredible opportunities and wonderful experiences and friends I have had here.
During my time at Cal Poly Pomona I:
-Expanded my professional network with student leaders in Business, Engineering, and the Sciences
-Took charge of the largest social club on campus with 108+ members
-Led a group of 73 on a Ski Trip to Whistler, Canada
-Had my first internship in the Sales/Marketing Department for the school newspaper "The Poly Post"
-Utilized a $400 start-up budget to successfully provide weekly activities and events for 108+ club members generating over $50,000 in revenue
-Provided excellent service and fine dining experiences for thousands at the illustrious Kellogg Mansion including the University President and distinguished guests
-Participated in various inter-disciplinary groups from every college on campus
-Represented Rockstar Energy Drinks additionally working with the college programs of Fuel TV and Monster Energy
-Learned the value of diversity and how to communicate across cultures
-Helped re-birth the Cal Poly Pomona chapters of Pi Sigma Epsilon and the American Marketing Association
-Collaborated with Aerospace Engineers on two Commercial Research projects for NASA, which was a very exciting opportunity for me!
-For my senior project created a functioning business in collaboration with Engineering, CIS, and other Business students. (www.polytickets.com)
-Provided my expertise in Sustainability and Business Marketing to a non-profit ranch in Alta Dena to find new opportunities for revenue
-Provided advice and expertise to community enterprises
College to me has meant a lot, I'm to first in my immediate family to get a degree from a University. It has been a lot of learning, a lot of it learning from hard knocks. It has been a true adventure in learning more deeply about myself and the world. I have taken nothing and created something and I have enjoyed every second of it. I look forward to translating my experiences into valuable tools for the future.
You can learn more about my exploits under the "Current" page. I have also provided a list of course work I have completed, finished samples of my work, letter(s) of recommendation, and a current resume under the "Portfolio" link.
Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or give me a ring at (626) 502-2250, I am available during extended business hours. If I don't answer, leave a message, I am either in class or at work.
Thank you for reading.
