Product Commercialization and Development Lab
This is a novel class at Cal Poly Pomona. The class is split between Engineering students and Business students who come together to develop and pitch their ideas, then create a product to promote and sell.
The class takes students through the entrepreneurial process from beginning to end, including formulating a business and financial plan, crafting a design and production process, and ultimately finding clients to generate revenue.
This class is exceptional and unique to Cal Poly Pomona and has attracted the attention of NASA.
For a good laugh, click here for a sample of last year's product which was a novel magnetically operated clock. The full inventory was exhausted and large quantities of the product were given to eminent guests of our campus including international delegates.

The Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies

The CRS presents a unique opportunity for Cal Poly Pomona students to learn in an inter-disciplinary environment applying current engineering techniques and knowledge with environmental and social issues to advance the principles of environmentally sustainable living. It is the first Cal State University building to be carbon neutral.
The program ultimately promotes the integration of people and natural processes with systems vital for community living, including food, water, energy, the built environment, and waste processes based on the principle of Regeneration. *Link opens in a new window
For more info on Sustainability please visit the EPA's website at http://www.epa.gov/sustainability/
The importance of sustainability is huge, a necessity for our future prosperity tantamount to industrial changes in the past like the formation of the FDA. The practical applications of the knowledge presented through the Lyle Center program, I believe, are priceless and the implications of the Green Industry on the future are huge. As Ghandi said "Be the change you want to see in the world." I intend to be the change I want to see in the Business world. I will be seeking entry into the Master's degree program Fall 2013.

Trail Builders
The San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders (SGMTB) is an all-volunteer public service organization dedicated to constructing and maintaining hiking trails in the San Gabriel Mountains' Angeles National Forest in Southern California.
According to their website (www.sgmtrailbuilders.org)
"We are committed to following environmentally-sound construction principles and working with conservation-minded individuals and agencies to preserve and respect the natural habitat, while at the same time, building trails to provide Angelinos with a wholesome and safe recreational experience as they enjoy the gift of our beautiful mountains."
"As a snowboarder,"Angelino", and all-around environmental enthusiast, I am thankful for the opportunity to volunteer with this organization. The San Gabriels provide us with so much in this sparse region, numerous recreational activities and clean fresh water. I am glad to be able to give back and contribute to keeping Nature pristine."
The meeting location is 1950 North San Gabriel Canyon Road (Hwy 39), Azusa, CA 91702, just a couple miles north of Sierra Madre Avenue on heading up Azusa Ave right off the 210 in front of the new Forest Service facility at the mouth of the Canyon. Carpools leave at 8AM sharp.
